Growth and Monetization Manager

Description:

Los Angeles, New York or Remote US.

The Plunge is the only online destination for grooms, helping guys be better husbands and better men.  We’re working to be one of the most innovative companies in the wedding and men’s space. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join as our Growth and Monetization Manager, who will be a key part of the leadership team, working directly with the founder and CEO.

The Team: Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and highly-collaborative startup like environment.

The Role: We are looking for a Growth and Monetization Manager that is focused on growing our audience and building innovative monetization experiences across various digital channels: web, app, email and e-commerce. You are comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and willing to develop quick proof of concepts, iterate and improve. You have strong judgement and work with your peers to create a bold vision, audience development initiatives, product roadmaps, and detailed requirements with the long-term vision in mind while delivering results in iterations, one bite at a time.

Ideal candidates possess big-picture vision yet the drive and attention to detail to make that vision a reality. We’re looking for an entrepreneur who is passionate about innovating on behalf of customers, demonstrates a high degree of empathy and product ownership, and wants to have fun while disrupting a category. You balance strategic thinking with outstanding execution – holding yourself accountable to delivering successful outcomes.

We need a strategic thinker, self-starter and creative problem solver with exceptional judgment and the ability to deliver business results under ambiguous circumstances and tight timelines.  The ideal candidate has a passion for audience growth, consumer insights, inventing new business models and revenue-generating initiatives, combined with an interest delivering high quality consumer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Growth Objectives, Prioritization and Testing.   You will work closely with the CEO to (1) define and communicate key growth initiatives, (2) ruthlessly prioritize growth initiatives and product changes and (3) design and implement tests.
  • Analytics, Research, Insights & Reporting: You will oversee analytics (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Parsely, among other metrics/reporting tools) to aggressively optimize all of our activities and understand user behavior — infusing it into the organization.  Develop deep customer insights, by blending the interpretation of data with a deep understanding of user needs, habits, and perceptions developed through targeted interviews, usability studies, and customer feedback.   Leverage these insights for product enhancements and content development. You will develop and maintain an audience growth model, and develop impactful, actionable reporting to inform daily and long-term decision-making.
  • Customer Journey: Understand the lifecycle of current and prospective customers to improve their journey by delivering engaging marketing messages that are relevant and personalized.
  • Email: You will help us manage our email newsletters, aggressively identifying and implementing opportunities to grow the subscription base and optimize performance (via a better customer experience, driving engagement, and increasing retention) and keep a healthy and engaged list.
  • SEO: You will understand the basics of SEO and determine how to incorporate best practices into product development and editorial workflow.
  • Paid Marketing: You will determine the most strategic and optimized use of a limited paid marketing budget and manage marketing programs in determined marketing channels.
  • Monetization: Identify new monetization opportunities and enhance existing affiliate, ads, and commerce functions.  Shepherd monetizable product concepts and product enhancement through execution, validation, and adoption within an Agile/SCRUM development environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: You will constantly evaluate new social/digital platforms, marketing services, and ad products, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and  developments

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of digital experience and deep expertise in analyzing online consumer behavior and turning this data into actionable recommendations.
  • Ideally, also a background in consumer-facing digital marketing, audience development, and analytics roles with experience in social media, email marketing, partnerships, SEO, and paid marketing, at content-driven organizations.
  • Data-driven decision making and quantitative analysis skills, and always metrics-driven, ruthless in prioritization, obstacle pole-vaulter to drive business outcomes
  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to inspire others and push through barriers
  • Passionate about digital media, ecommerce, advertising, and overall digital product while keeping current with the latest trends.   Interested in growing a consumer brand at a growth-stage company.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • High attention to detail; proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously; and proficiency at leveraging precious resources
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, drive, independence, and flexibility
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering or related field preferred.
