Celebrity Engagement Rings: What Adam Levine Gave Behati Prinsloo

Adam Levine may have shot to fame with an album lamenting the loss of his girlfriend, but the Maroon 5 frontman can’t complain about much now that he’s married to Namibian model Behati Prinsloo. Levine first met the Victoria’s Secret stunner when casting a music video in 2011. Prinsloo didn’t wind up doing the gig but their connection clearly left an impression. After a string of flirty emails, the couple finally made the relationship official, but the road to marriage wasn’t entirely bump-free.

In a recent interview with Porter, Prinsloo recalled: “We broke up for two months, realized it was the worst decision, then got back together, got engaged and got married. It was a wild ride!” Soon after they’d reconciled, Levine proposed on bended knee — though he admits it wasn’t his smoothest move. “I’m a confident person,” he said on Live with Kelly and Michael, “but I got down on that knee and everything changed… I lost my equilibrium. I had to get on the other one.”

The ring he chose made up for any missteps. Rather than going for your standard rock, Levine sourced a vintage jewel from the 1930s. The Art Deco design features a round center stone, estimated to be just over one carat, set in a platinum band intricately engraved with a scroll pattern. Nostalgically romantic and generally one-of-a-kind, vintage engagement rings offer a unique, sentimental alternative to modern designs. For similar rings, see the gallery below.
