Long time no speak plunge.

This time my question is about an Idea I have for our wedding that everyone seems to think is the most ridiculous idea ever heard of. (Sucking in air) Here goes......

Now from my understanding, A wedding is a celebration of two people coming together in holy matrimony, or in simpler terms, two people who love each having a ceremony to celebrate their commitment or something along them lines am i right????

I also know that the wedding is catered more towards the bride and that is fine. Now most weddings I know of when the wedding starts the groom is waiting paitiently at the altar for the bride....(and everybody before that.)

However, in my case I want to be a groom that walks down the isle with the wedding party. Now my reason for this is because I already know that the wedding is more towards the female but I feel that just standing up there makes me look like the smallest character in this wedding senario other that saying I do and kissing the bride. Heck the brides maids and grooms men get more attention then I would. I feel more like a spectator than an actual particpant. Now dont get me wrong..I do not want the attention all on me, I still want the bride to have her moment of shine........I just want to do something that will have me remembered for more than waiting for the bride with a smile.

My solution to this.....start the wedding with me walking down the isle with the most important women in my life (except my bride to be) my mother. Then of course afterwards everybody would follow leading to the big finale when the bride comes and we get hitched. Now this does not sound crazy does it? I mean sure its not the normal traditional method but what wedding is now a days. My brother (best man) and my sister in law (bridesmaid) think that the idea is "weird," and "abnormal." My best friend (groomsmen) and my mother think its a nice idea. My fiance said it was okay for me to do it, but she never gave her opinion on whether she liked the idea or not.

I just wanna hear a couple of opinions from some outside sources other than friends and family on my idea. Im willing to listen to any opinion. Thanks.

Ok. Just so you know, I don't think this is weird at all.

A friend of mine walked down the aisle at the begining of his wedding with his father because he felt the same way you do. And the only reason it was not with his mother was because she had passed away four months before. So I say this: It's your wedding too, do what you want to. As long as you and your finacee are happy, don't worry about what others say.

If you want to pull this off properly, I only see one way it can be accomplished.  While the organist (or whatever musical instruments you are having) is playing the prelude (music before the bridal party entrance music), you should escort your mother up the aisle to her seat.  After you take your place at the altar, the organist can then start playing the music for the bridesmaids and bride to walk down the aisle. 

It may not be what you wanted, but you can walk down the aisle and not take the moment away from your bride. 

In my wedding. The bridesmaids came down the aisle, the groomsmen escort them to their post, then went over to my side. The ringbearer and flowergirl strolled down the aisle, came to me, and then I escort them back to the aisle they came from to their mother, and stand there while the bride marched towards me. I then looped in behind her and her dad and stopped back at my place. I did more than just stand there, but didnt walk down the aisle.

If thats not good enough, walking your mom down the aisle sounds fine to me.

I wouldn't worry about what anyone else thinks besides your bride.  She is the one that you are "taking away from," so to speak.  If she is alright with it (and make sure she is) then I say go for it!
