So I've figured out the lineup and who the best man is, but here's my question: What's a cool way to ask the guys?  I'd like to do something cool other than just simply asking them.  it doesn't have to be over the top or anything gee, just wanted to do something cool since they're ultimately helping me out.

Any ideas?

Well in my venture through that process, I would just asking them was the best thing. Guys just want to know, if they're in or not. But if you wanted to try something. I would first take the guy you want as your best man out for a some beers. Ask him first, then have the other guys meet up with you later. And ask them then. Then there isn't a great difference in time between asking guys...

Id agree that while having something cool to do makes things better, the actual asking them to be groomsmen part will be pretty straightforward.  It partially depends on what they like to do.  Something like paintball's fun, because you can crack a few jokes about nailing them if they say no.

From my experience, pretty much everything but the bachelor party, the guys want to know what they need to do, and that's it.

I was in a similar position.  I ended up going to dinner with each of them individually and bringing it up in conversation.  It was a nice way to try a new restaurant, or go to a favorite, have good food, send the ball over the plate, and then talk about some details after.

I'm having two best men and two ushers (not in the wedding party...supposedly this is a possibility).  My two best men (one of my best friends and my dad) both had a lot of questions on what they had to do.  I had some of the answers and then I managed to link them to online information and also got them some books on the subject.  They said it helped a lot.

I can totally relate, I tried to put off asking and picking a best man (something about talking wedding planning with another man), and it was just my two brothers and my best friend..  All the ideas on here are good if you live in the same area as you and they can find time to go out. I would say  just bite the bullet and do it, it's kinda like ripping off a bandaid, it might be uncomfortable for a second, but it needs to be done.

Maybe ask each one out for drinks and ask them then. Oh, and you're paying, after all, they'll be putting out around $500 by the end of all this for you.

Soooo i had groomsmen in 4 different states...to top it off i had 12 of em! So rather than go the traditional dinner route, i decided the quickest and best way to get a hold of 12 college kids.....was this video...and boy did it work....and it was a hit with everyone, and sure to be a highlight of the wedding itselt!!!
