Just started planning, so some of the details here are fuzzy still. We're planning on having about 2 groomsmen (plus a best man) and 2 bridesmaids (plus a maid of honor). So far, so good.
BUT - she's lived in this town way longer than I have, and she's got about 3 dozen "close friends" that she can't imagine "excluding" from the wedding. (She wants them all to feel actually involved, not just attending.) Her idea is to have them all show up wearing their favorite black/brown dress, and march down the aisle behind the groomsmen and bridesmaids - but then sit down in chairs near the front. Or maybe stand up on either side of us. 30 of them.
I think (1) this is going to look ridiculous; (2) her true friends will understand that she would've liked to include everyone but just can't; and (3) the "backup bridesmaids" are going to feel a little insulted at the "consolation prize". Haven't told her any of this, just "that's an interesting idea, honey". What do you guys think - weird or sweet? |
