Flasks? Out. Shot glasses? Out. Money clips? Out.
As discussed in our guide for groomsmen gifts, you should immediately banish those hoariest of clichés.
Instead, your best options, generally, fit the following two criteria:
1) It will be used.
2) It will be an upgrade.
Specifically, we recommend items like weekend bags, travel accessories, and dob kits. Yes, he might already have that junk, but, unless he's sort of a snob, he's probably not splurging for high-end versions.
Thrillist introduces us to a virile, high-end, online-only store that fits this mission to a T. Enter Gent Supply Co, which, quite frankly, is one of the best providers of groomsmen gifts we've seen. There's a lot to like.
From Thrillist:
The generally high-design merch spans categories from Tech (i.e., all-in-one charging stations, Lego-shaped portable mini speakers...), to Style (cufflinks made from a vintage Boeing, indestructible wallets), to "Living", boasting a wide variety of utilitarian-yet-sweet stuff like a cube-shaped drink-measuring glass with cocktail recipes on it and a camouflage-colored dustpan/broom set, even though you've never had trouble not-finding it before.
You can easily kill 30 minutes navigating through the company's wares. Avoid the cheekier items like the "retro block calculator," but the traveling accessories, cocktail paraphernalia (blessedly, no flasks), and shaving gear are all top-notch.
Bonus? An actual "Sterling Cooper" section. Shameless but effective.
